5:30 AM: Pre-Dawn: Join the Rhino Tracking Team

Lengishu’s most humbling experience. Rise before dawn and join the conservancy’s armed ranger team as they set out on foot to locate and account for every rhino on the property. You will learn to read fresh tracks in the soil, identify individuals by horn shape and ear notches, and move quietly through the bush with professionals whose work protects one of Kenya’s greatest conservation success stories — over 200 black and white rhino on the Borana-Lewa Landscape.

8:30 AM: Bush Breakfast on the Hillside

Return to the house for a slow, restorative breakfast on the terrace — farm eggs, fresh fruit, Kenyan chai, and the vast conservancy laid out before you as the morning light strengthens and the wildlife begins its daily choreography below.

10:30 AM: Infinity Pool & Rest

The midday hours belong entirely to you. Float in the heated infinity pool as giraffe graze on the ridge below, or settle into the cinema with its 500-film library, hand-stitched love seats, and freshly made popcorn. The pace here is entirely yours to set.

3:30 PM: Anti-Poaching Patrol — Behind the Scenes

An exclusive Lengishu experience: accompany a unit of the conservancy’s armed anti-poaching team on their afternoon deployment. Walk the fence lines, hear the intelligence briefings, and gain a deeply real understanding of what it takes to keep wildlife safe in modern Kenya. Few safari experiences anywhere in Africa offer this level of access.

6:30 PM: Terrace Sundowners at the House

Wind down on the main terrace as the light fades over the valley. Martin’s botanical cocktails flow freely. The kitchen sends out warm canapés and the conversation turns to the extraordinary afternoon you have just lived.

8:00 PM: Fireside Dinner

A quiet, intimate dinner around the fireplace — your chef’s daily menu inspired by the season and the landscape. Slow, soulful, completely unhurried.

6:30 AM: Dawn Horseback Safari

Borana’s two stables cater for all riding abilities, and this morning you head out on horseback as the conservancy wakes. Moving silently through the landscape at this level gives you an intimacy with the wildlife that no vehicle can replicate — giraffe at eye level, zebra parting calmly around you, the sound of hooves on dry earth and nothing else. Your experienced equestrian guide leads the way.

9:00 AM: Breakfast at the House

A hearty post-ride breakfast back at Lengishu — eggs, avocado, fresh-baked bread, and coldpressed juice from the kitchen garden. Take a long, slow hour over coffee on the terrace.

10:30 AM: Ngare Ndare Forest & Canopy Walkway

Drive to the neighbouring Ngare Ndare Forest — a primeval, cloud-draped world at the foot of Mt Kenya’s foothills. Cross the 450-metre suspension canopy walkway high above the forest floor, led by a private guide who knows every bird call and tree species. Descend to the crystal-blue swimming pools fed by glacial meltwater from Mt Kenya’s glaciers, and swim in water so clear and cold it feels elemental. A forest picnic lunch is served on the riverbank.

4:00 PM: Afternoon Game Drive — Predator Focus

Your guide has been monitoring lion and leopard movement during the day. The afternoon drive targets the conservancy’s rocky outcrops and drainage lines where predators rest through the heat. Grey’s zebra, gerenuk, Beisa oryx, and Somali ostrich — species found nowhere in the Mara — make regular appearances on the open plains.

7:00 PM: Outdoor Bush Dinner Under the Stars

11:00 AM: Mountain Biking the Conservancy Tracks

For those who want to move differently, mountain bikes are available for a guided ride along the conservancy’s network of red-dirt tracks. Your guide leads at a comfortable pace through open grasslands and acacia woodland, stopping wherever the wildlife dictates.

2:00 PM: Community School & Cultural Visit

Drive to one of the community schools that Borana Conservancy supports through its education and livelihoods programme. Meet the teachers and students, hear how the conservancy’s conservation work directly funds community health and education, and browse handcrafted beadwork from the local artisans’ cooperative. A profoundly grounding experience that connects the safari to the wider human story of this landscape.

4:30 PM: Sundowner Game Drive

A golden-hour drive back across the conservancy — the light long and amber, the animals heading to water. Your guide pours cold drinks wherever the scene is most beautiful. Time and agenda dissolve completely.

8:00 PM: Chef’s Table Dinner

A celebratory dinner — four courses, wine, candlelight, and the deep quiet of a Kenyan night. Your chef presents a menu built around the finest local produce and flavours from across the country. An evening to savour slowly

One final early drive through the conservancy before the day heats up. Your guide takes you somewhere quiet — a ridgeline, a waterhole, a place only they know. No fixed route, no agenda. Just the Borana light, the wildlife, and four days of accumulated wonder sharpening your eyes for one last morning.

9:00 AM: Farewell Breakfast at Lengishu House

Return to the house for a leisurely final breakfast on the terrace. The Lengishu team gathers to say goodbye — a warm, personal send-off from people who treated this house as yours for five days. Personalised handmade gifts are presented as a parting gesture of hospitality.

11:00 AM: Check-out & Transfer to Borana Airstrip

Your guide accompanies you on the short game drive to the airstrip. Board your private charter back to Wilson Airport, Nairobi (approx. 45 min). As the plane climbs over the ridge and Lengishu House shrinks below, you carry home something the conservancy gives only to those who slow down long enough to receive it.
